AntonBauer UltraLight 2 on PD170?
Hi all,I'm thinking to buy a PD170 for weddings and I need an advice about what kind of light is possible to use with this camcorder.I have a DSR390 and I use an Anton Bauer Ultra Light 2 with the camera so I'd like to know if is possible to use the same light on 170.If not can someone give me an advice about what kind of light is possible to use with PD170?
Thanks in advance,Maurizio. |

Maurizio,
Pretty sure that your 170 is not a 12 volt battery system which would mean that you couldn't use the UL2. Unless of course you could 1. Find a 7.2 v bulb that would fit it and 2. Figure out a good way to connect to the existing battery and 3. Have a battery with enough juice to run both the cam and the light. You'd probably be better off with a standalone light/battery combo. |

The AB Ultralight will not work with the PD150/170 as it does on the Sony full size cameras. It needs to be powered by an AB battery and the 150/170 does not use that. You could go to the AB web site and look at the Stasis (sp) brace they offer that can be fitted with an AB battery to work with the light. You would be better and cheaper off getting a Sony stand alone 10/20w light that uses the same kind of battery as the camera. Get 1 or 2 extra batteries for the light and you're good to go.
