Home Made Softbox pics

I finished the prototype of my home made softbox.

A few adjustments are in order, but for the most part it works pretty well.

Most expensive part is the velcro, next is RipStop nylon, $7.00 a yard.

Total cost is about $40 - $50.

With one light, works well for interviews. I made another set of panels for a fill reflector.

Thanks

Joe

Thanks for sharing - I'm about to build a DYI dolly. Next up..a complete DYI lighting rig.

Is the material you used fireproof?

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

Chris, the fabric is not fireproof. But from some testing I have done, the best light to fabric distance is around 2 - 3 feet. I am also in the progress of making some sand bags for the light stands.

Thanks

Joe

Very nice work. I like how you control the spillage and it would be simple to slit the existing diffusion part for even more control. Its nice to use either as a softbox or as a giant bounce source.

good work.

Ok, getting it now. It was unavailable when I tried it last though. Nice stuff! I'm about to start making some el cheapo (i.e. budget constrained) lighting gear myself.
