Bescor MX 601 light.
This is based on a Lightpanels test thread here by Travis. I have a Bescor MX601 with the 2 bulbs and when I got it about 2 years ago I did a dark room test similar to Travis. What I found was the supplied unbranded 20watt bulbs from Bescor were yellowish and less brighter than a pair of 20watt Osram bulbs I tested under the same conditions.
From memory I think the Osrams are about a third brighter and noticeably whiter. On this basis I fitted a pair of 35watt Osrams but despite the instructions saying 10-15-20-30-40-50-60watt bulbs were Ok to use, after about 10mins with both on I smelt burning wire before I switched them off. I contacted Bescor and they said only use 20watt. I've got the X645 and X672 batteries (2.2lbs) and auto charger. I was just going to look at an LP Micro, based on its light/weight. The local agent says they ordered in 40! Thx for the heads up Travis I'll go carefully. Cheers. |
