DIY scrims for fluorescent lights
I've got some Coollights, which I love and wanted to pass along a cheap and easy trick for reducing light output.
I went to my local hardware store and bought some black window screen material and layed it over the lights and held it with some C47s (aka clothespins, for you novices). Sure enough, it works just like other scrims. A second layer can be added for further reduction. |

That is a neat idea for sure.
Also, the eggcrate you got for your CL-455 will reduce light output a bit too--I would say about 20% plus the added bonus of course of cutting side light spill too. |

Good point Richarrd. In fact it does a better job and also provides some directionality.
