p2 card will not mount
Hello all -
I'm trying to mount an 8GB p2 card directly into a Mac G3 laptop via the card slot without any success. The OS is 10.3. However, I was able to successfully mounted the same card onto a G4 with a 10.4x OS with no issues. Is there an OS compatibility issue here? Thanks to anyone who can help! - Matt |

Matt,
Welcome to the forum: Most certainly it is an OS issue as you will need 10.4.5 at a minimum to read P2 cards - glitch-free. There may also be a hardware limitation with the older G3 mainboards, but to date you're the only person I've heard of trying to use hardware older than a G4 Powerbook, so have no data one way or the other. |

It was a driver issue. Problem solved.
Thanks for the response Robert. Didn't see it there at first. Based on what you're saying, I'm getting the feeling that despite being able to see the card now, there may be other issues with an older OS. I've read that some folks were having to reboot on occasion, but I believe that was related to something called a "Genie" of which I know nothing about. I hope that this OS works in the field. My workflow depends on it. |
