HD Out to Monitors

I'm waiting on my book and might order the hvx boot camp dvd. (anyone have any experience with these dvds)

But my bigger question is getting HD signal out of a final cut edit so you can see true (or almost true) 16:9 hd. I know that lots of lcds can reproduce 720 resolution. But it get real expensive for 1080 stuff.

Is there a way to kick out a signal using the camera or a converter to a cheaper lcd tv?

What are the specs?

When you come out of the camera/ with the analog component cable, will that give a high def image?

Can you use the camera as a go between? from FCP to LCD

It's all new... fun... and expensive!

Newbie getting his feet wet.

You can monitor component out of the camera to any monitor which will accept HD analog component input.

You cannot stream firewire through the HVX out to component.

Most economical option for true HD monitoring from FCP is Matrox MXO which will give you the ability to use a DVI monitor such as Apple Cinema Display while also allowing you to output component, SDI or even composite. MXO will also do a RT downrez to SD.

Thnx

Still investigating all options, but that's a definite start.

The Matrox MXO is a thousand dollar solution, and then I'd buy a second cinema display or lcd tv monitor. Any thoughts?

Doing this in stages, my first ten large was on the camera and accesories.

Second batch builds the edit suite. My guess is, my 23" IMAC won't cut it.

Thnx

Your options are MXO or capture card to any of the monitoring possibilties-- SDI, component, or card plus SDI->DVI converter. Any other option is merely just viewing a computer image on another monitor, which is not accurate video monitoring. Unfortunately, folks buy into the new low cost HD or HDV solutions and only later realize they have not budgeted how to monitor it.
