I've spoken with the head of Spec-Comm on several occaisions about various topics; although I have no idea when the 'Porter will be released I can say that Spec-Comm want's to have a solid, reliable product and not repeat the mistakes of the Focus "Firestore" line, which has always been a hit-or-miss device when it comes to HD acquisition.
Currently Spec-Comm is the only third party company that has announced a stand-alone P2-only recording device that interfaces directly with the P2 cameras and as such is breaking new ground. No doubt once the 'Porter has gained traction in the market there will be competitors but for now they are the lone-wolf in this market. We all want to see this new product hit the market, but we also want it to be 100% reliable and trustworthy, so I'd say it won't hit the market until David and others are confident that it is in fact 100% viable and not 80% like the Firestore. |

Thanks Robert,
There will be some announcements soon and I think you'll be happy. :) Since we don't have a sticky on this forum, I can't seem to find my last post with the pictures of the new design. Here are some links from another forum. David http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread...=40521&page=34 http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread...=40521&page=35 |

That really looks great. Speaking for myself only. I'm willing to wait until this product is rock solid before you introduce it. In my small market HD is not yet in demand. I bought the HVX to be forward compatible and because it takes amazing pictures, so I will need the best high storage capacity solution on the market at some point in the future when HD is more prominent in my area. The Porter seems to be the obvious choice based on design concepts.

By viewing your profile (yours is located at http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/member.php?u=222320), you can quickly find a link to a list of all the posts you've made here. Click anybody's name (including your own) for a link to that person's profile. If you check it your posting history, you'll see that you've never posted any pics of the new CinePorter design on this site, so the links to DVX User are very much appreciated. Hope this helps, |

Thanks a lot Chris. I see how to find it now. I thought I was going crazy. I was sure I posted some. I did find the post with the exploded view. Did I not do it right?
http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthrea...727#post554727 Anyway, I'm here to answer any questions you have, especially after the new CinePorter page goes up. David |
