Editing footage from the HVX

Simple. Can you capture and edit HD footage from the HVX in Sony Vegas 7?

Not without some additional tools. To edit footage you'd need either Raylight, or Serious Magic's DVCPRO-HD Decoder, or CineForm.

To capture -- are you talking about live firewire capture? Or just getting the footage from the cards into the computer? If you're talking about getting footage to the computer, nothing additional is necessary. If you're talking about live streaming firewire capture then yes you'd need something else; either Avid or Canopus EDIUS Broadcast or Serious Magic's DV Rack 2.0 HD.
