Yes heard that too.. but you,d think Pana would have it as an up coming product..
The 3100 on paper looks to be a good bet.. depending on the price ofcourse! I think there must be alot of HDX900 owners like my self... having to move into tapeless sooner than later.. |

Hello to everyone,
Some days ago found the new HPX3100 (full) brochuure on Panasonic Japan website: http://pro-av.panasonic.net/en/sales...AJ-HPX3100.pdf About price and availability, from a one of the largest Panasonic dealer in Italy, it is priced around 29.000 Euros (body only), with first delivery scheduled at the end of January. From the same dealer, the new Sony PDW-500 is 25.000 (body only). |

According to TV Broadcast, the HPX3100 is now shipping and price is $19,950! I'm sure that doesn't include viewfinder or lens, but that's a pretty good deal, IMO.

Yes, HPX170 in Sept. '08, HPX2700 in Sept. '09 after selling HDX900. The HDX900 viewfinder works on the 2700, but not sure about 3700 or 3100. If rumors are true, we'll see a large sensor P2 Varicam very soon for under $30K. Could be an interesting Q1 2011, meanwhile our two AF100's have shipped!

So, are we seeing the beginning of the end of 2/3" cams? The large sensor cams seem to be able to do everything they can do, assuming a large sensor power zoom is created. Looks like B&H will be selling the 3100: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/749093-REG/Panasonic_AJ_HPX3100GJ_AJ_HPX3100GJ_P2HD_CAMCORDER.html |

I think that there is still a place for 2/3" cameras. When it's important to get the shot in one take, when one lens is needed for full coverage in a size and weight that's manageable--basically news, sports, docs, live type projects, back of the room, etc. Large sensor cameras in the wrong hands usually means lots of out of focus footage!

Wonder what the B&H price will be..? I still have my HDX900,still being requested, and bought a nanoflash to use with it.. but started thinking P2 over Sony 800 bluray... thought maybe 2700 with the trade in but then worried about 720 over 1080.. but the 3700 is a bit big and very power hungry.. then the 3100 was announced .. !! looks perfect for me..smaller,only 2 slots, and same power as HDX900 I believe..

Well, Panasonic has the list price for the HPX-2000 at $27,000. B&H sells it for $25,000.
The 500 listed at $15,300, B&H price is $10,000. The 900 for $30,235. B&H for $25,695. So, I wouldn't be surprised if the actual street price of the 3100 will be about $18,000. |
