How do I synchronize cameras with the HPX 170 as the master? at DVinfo.net

I'm practicing with the synchronization settings on the HPX 170. I'm following the instructions from Barry Green's HPX handbook. I know I'm missing something simple but I can't get it to work.

TC Mode DF
TCG FREE RUN
TC Pre-set (Yes but the book says not to worry about it)

The book says to make sure 1394 TC REGEN is OFF
(I can't find that)

"Switch to MCR/VCR mode and set the 1394 IN PRESET menu item to ON"
(I know how to switch to MCR/VCR but I don't see where to do that)

I know the settings are not correct because the "1394T" doesn't show in the LCD.

Any ideas?
