HPX500 live view on a laptop
Hi,
In a few weeks we'll be using a HPX500 camera to shoot a music video. We wanted to use a laptop (vista, dual core, 3gb ram) as a live view monitor via Premiere CS4 On location. Apparently it's possible by hooking the camera to the laptop via firewire. We don't want to capture to the laptop, just have a live view monitoring through it and record as usual at the same time to the P2 cards. I just wanted to know if someone knows if this is possible and if it is, some advices how to use it efficiently :) Thanks a lot. Ivan

It's very possible, and in fact pretty much effortless. The only real caveat is: don't try to use the 720pN mode, as switching the camera into 720pN disables the firewire output. Use any other mode and yes you can use OnLocation as a live monitor.

Cool. I wanted to shoot 1080p, so it'll be fine. We're going to make some tests before the shooting. Thanks a lot for the info, I really appreciate it :)
