Capturing HVX through Component Uncompressed
Hi there,
I would like to capture live to my MBP--> External Drive (via component out of the HVX). I understand the files will be HUGE. This will be for studio green screen work. I have searched for hours but still don't know... 1. What Hardware to get. 2. What Software to get. 3. What would be the best codec for this type of capture. 4. Does anyone have comparisons between 1080i/2p DVCPROHD and Uncompressed Analog Out? Thanks, and all the help is greatly appreciated! Best, Grant |

Grant,
As far as I know you can't capture uncompressed to a laptop, period. The data-rate is too high for anything Firewire and there's no connectivity to get into the laptop to begin with. If you're going to be in a studio location then plan on using a MacPro with either a KONA or BlackMagic card installed, that's the only way you're going to capture any uncompressed signal type. However it *might* be possible to use one of the Magma adapter chassis to get similar external connectivity but I'm still not sure an external FW drive is going to be able to keep up with uncompressed. http://www.magma.com |
