Not positive but based off of current and previous tech specs, they should have no problem with 100% HPX because it is a broadcast camera with 2/3" imagers. Cable and broadcast outlets typically care more about the type of camera used to shoot shows, not so much about whether it is P2 or DVCProHD. And I do know for a fact that the Varicam and HDX-900 are used for Discovery. Same codec, same size CCDs.

I do know of several other cable shows being shot entirely on the HPX but not specifically Discovery shows.

Best,

Dan

Yea, I'm almost certain stations like Bravo, History, TLC, HGTV would all accept work shot on the 500.

DiscoveryHD i know test each camera through their pipeline to see how well it holds up. Just wondering if the 500 lived up to that challenge. Not so much the size of the sensors but the resolution of them.

If you are serious, why not ask them? http://producers.discovery.com/pmd/PMDHandbook.nsf
