GH6: could I use there Sony cards?
Hey friends, I sold my GH5 and I'm buying GH6. I have so many Sony cards I attach and I'd like to know: if I will use these cards with the Panasonic GH6, what precise problems could I get if I like to shoot at 4K 50p 10bit?
I have also so many batteries, I know I can use them, but beyond the fact that they last less, I will be able to shoot at 4K 50p 10bit? Thanks for your pleasant info.

Re: GH6: could I use there Sony cards?
On the GH6 you only have one slot for SD cards and they should be SDXC II The first card slot is CFexpress so if you only use SD cards you will just have one slot. I bought this CFexpress card https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1678305-REG/angelbird_avp512cfxbse_av_pro_cfexpress_se.html/BI/2855/KBID/3801 , this reader https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1548490-REG/prograde_digital_pgrwcfxsdana_digital_cfxb_sdxc_sdhc_usb_3_1.html/BI/2855/KBID/3801 and these SD cards https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1672547-REG/lexar_lsd1667256g_b2nnu_256gb_pr_1667x_uhs_ii.html/BI/2855/KBID/3801. For C4K 60P the CFexpress card will record over 5 hours 40 mins for instance and you could simultaneously record to a SD card for a backup. 256G SD card recording UHD60P gives 2 hours 50 min. My normal 128G Lexar 1000x will record for 1 hour 22 mins.
I just tested with my old batteries and they will work up to UHD60P LGOP 422 10bit but will not record in All-i . So should work for 50P UHD. I would still buy some new cards and batteries/powerbank. I would buy some new cards. The batteries will work but you will not be able to record the higher data rates. I got some old type 2200mAh but they still will not work in the GH6 for higher data rates. The camera can be charged and run from a power bank with PD USB C output BUT THE OUTPUT MUST be 9V 3A to work. Most power bank do not have this output. |
