Missing control.
When I got my GH4 out of the box, the first thing I did was to try out all the features, and put the accessories aside until I needed them. Now, because of that, I can't recall if there was a remote control included in the box. I've had remotes before but always put them aside as I thought I'd never use them.
I vaguely remember a little flat remote for the camera, but I might be remembering a different camera... Thing is, I can't find it amongst my bits and pieces in the wardrobe.. Messy and careless, I know. So I'm reduced to asking other owners if there actually is a remote included with this camera. Thnx. |

Re: Missing control.
I'd first read the manual to establish if it came with a remote.

Re: Missing control.
Just that many of the cameras I've bought over the years included a remote, which I've always put aside, because I never use them. I have a little box with several remotes in it, at the bottom of a drawer somewhere.
Also have the manual stashed away somewhere... |

Re: Missing control.
What's that, Pete? The manual?
Just that it's got "Lens Rentals" in the name... Sounds like a retailer. Last edited by Bill Cowell; August 16th, 2020 at 07:43 PM. |

Re: Missing control.
No remote control supplied with either a GH4 or a GH5. There is a wired remote by Panasonic which supplied separately. I have one. I only shoot video, manually, and the remote is limited to record/pause.

Re: Missing control.
Okay, Ron. Thanks. I'll look for one here.
Just wondering; how responsive are they for video? I want to set up the camera to film birds when they come into the yard, and they do that pretty suddenly and swiftly. |

Re: Missing control.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but have you considered WiFi?

Re: Missing control.
There are no stupid questions, as far as I'm concerned, Rainer. Except the ones I ask. :)
I know the camera has WiFi functions, but I assumed that was only for connection to The Net, to transmit footage or photos?? |

Re: Missing control.
Hi Bill - in theory Panasonic Image App lets you control your camera with a smartphone. Works very well for me with an FZ2500 and an iPhone 6, but YMMV. Still, probably worth a try.

Re: Missing control.
I opted not to have Net connection on my phone, so I tried to download the app to my laptop. Unfortunatley, Google wouldn't let me do that.
Anyway, in the meantime, I found a Hahnel Captur kit in a local shop, for a very good price. So, all well. Thanks, all. :) |

Just one more thing...
So I bought the Hahnel Captur Timer Kit, not because I wanted to do time lapse, (the GH5 can do that already), but because it was the only bit of kit readily available, and pretty cheap, and they said it could do the simple job of remotely taking a photo and taking video with my Panasonic GH5.
Well I don't know how many of you guys have this kit, but if you do, you'll know that the manual that comes with it is almost incomprehensible. No way can I figure out how to do the simple job of taking a shot or taking video. They don't have a forum, and their Youtube videos are full of queries from frustrated owners. So once again I'm making a pest of myself and asking, Can anyone tell me how this gizmo works? Thanks. :) Last edited by Bill Cowell; August 18th, 2020 at 04:12 AM. |

Re: Missing control.
Never mind, I took it back. Ordered a different device that is better suited to the job.

Re: Missing control.
In the meantime, I've learned how to do timelapse on the GH5, so that's fun. :)
