Anamorphic on the GH5 for Newbies
So I've never shot anamorphic, and the cost/complexity of some of these weirdo setups scares me, but I keep coming back to those gorgeous cinematic images...
Further, the new GH5 firmware with 6K anamorphic support will be here soon. So I guess this thread is for anyone similarly curious about shooting for the first time with an anamorphic rig on the GH5. Starter questions for anyone experienced: Where can a good anamorphic setup be rented? If one wanted to build a (relatively) simple, (relatively) affordable, more or less reliable anamorphic kit, what would you recommend? A couple of links I've found: https://anamorphicstore.com/gh4-gh5-anamorphic-lens/ Exploring Cheap Anamorphic Adapters for the Panasonic GH5 | Wolfcrow Some nice anamorphic shot on GH5: |

Looking into the same thing, but ti seems like you can buy some fairly cheap native anamorphic lenses for the GH5.

Re: Anamorphic on the GH5 for Newbies
Yes, after much looking around I think renting an SLR magic Anamorphot-CINE lens kit is the way to go at the moment. It's a bit too pricey to buy at $8K for a three-lens kit (for me, anyway). The other alternatives seem too fidgety for my style of shooting.
There is an obvious opportunity for Panasonic/Leica to step in here with one or more killer M43 anamorphic lenses for $1K-$1500. Hopefully that's why they are working so hard on a feature like this! |
