GH3 to GH4 and more
Hello all,
Long time since I posted on here. Just wondered how you were all getting on with those GH4s? I am still on the GH3 and just wondered what advantages the GH4 gives. Not the obvious ones like 4K, zebras and focus peaking but the things only results can see. Do any of the new profiles offer a better color balance, is it better in low light, can you manually alter the white balance during recording or set a maximum ISO when filming in AUTO ISO, oh and are your 1080 pictures any better than with the GH3? Bottom line, is it worth the upgrade if you are not currently shooting 4K? |

Re: GH3 to GH4 and more
For me the major advantage it has over my gh3 is that it can shoot 4K, beside the obvious improvements like peaking zebra's and so on there is not so much difference between both camera's, especially not in 1080p and low light sensitivity but if you shoot 4K and downscale in post the gh4 is less noisy then the gh3 because the noise gets smaller as well. For me that means that at weddings I have no issue shooting at 6400 iso while with the gh3 I only would if I have no other choice. also when you downscale 4K the image it's more detailed then 1080p from the gh3.
Beside that there is no major differences that would make a upgrade necessary, not for me at least as I find my gh3 still a very good camera considering you can get it now at almost half the price of a gh4. |

Re: GH3 to GH4 and more
Thanks Noa, that is what I thought, will need to get a new machine to deal with 4K though. Does the camera have a maximum upper limit on the Auto ISO setting?
