Hummingbirds - Little Jewels Of Flight 2
I put this together about a month ago from GH3 footage I have been collecting since March of 2013 when I purchased the camera. It's selection of hummingbirds that occur in Ventura County, California either as resident breeders, or seen during their migration in the spring or fall. Lens used was the Panasonic 100-300mm.
Since you can't enjoy the Vimeo HD here, just click the VIMEO logo in the lower right corner and it will take you to the Vimeo website.

Excellent - makes me think why I exchanged my 3s for 4s with a crappy part ex. rate.
ETC Don? Autofocus? You have nice conditions soft (shaded presumably) light and flowers rather than feeders. I vidded some hummers in Brazil last month but glaring light and feeders. Just not the same. Ron |

Re: Hummingbirds - Little Jewels Of Flight 2
As usual Don, lovely images!!!
I loved the music too, but for some reason, it was coming through quite distorted. I assume from the Vimeo compression?? Not sure if there is a setting you can change when uploading to ensure a higher bitrate, but it may be worth looking into it. I am thinking of buying a new lens for my GH4 and am considering the 100-300 simply to have that super light long lens option. I would love to try the Tamron 150-600 for a long lens that i can still be shooting in 4k with. One of the downsides to this lens though is the weight @ 4.3lb as i am trying to keep everything as light as i can for longer hikes into the mountains. Thanks for sharing your video, i might just have to go back & watch it again now!! :) Regards, Bryce

Re: Hummingbirds - Little Jewels Of Flight 2
Bryce,
Thanks for your comments.Your not the only one that commented about the distortion. It was a downloaded MP3 and I didn't touch it. I agree, there are some areas that are really harsh, the best way I could describe it. I went back and tried to massage it and re-uploaded it to Vimeo. I think it sounds much better, your opinion is always welcome. I like the 100-300mm lens, but you really have to work with it. A lot of people say they have problems with AF, but I don't know or the patience to work it out. I don't seem to have that many problems with it. I'm going to buy a GH4, but since you don't have ETC with either 4K modes, I may have to look at a larger and heaver lens, don't know at this time exactly what I'm going to do. Buy the camera first and them figure it out. I do have a Nikon 80-400 and I have used a Nikon 1.4X TC with it and it was darn good. Thanks Ron. Yes, auto focus and ETC. I would like to get down to Ecuador again with the GH3, and hopefully soon with a GH4. Thank you Mark.
