GH3 frame rates
Being math challenged, the percentage thing is a mystery to me!
Can someone share a conversion of the percentages into actual FPS numbers? Thanks! |

Re: GH3 frame rates
Percentage regarding to what? Chip space? Battery life?

Re: GH3 frame rates
Are you perhaps thinking about shutter speed (rather than frame rate) as expressed in degrees (rather than percentage?).
For example, in the film industry, a 180-degree shutter means that the shutter is open 1/2 of the duration of a frame. Film frame rate is usually 24fps, so a 180 degrees means the shutter is open for 1/48th of a second. Not sure about the GH3, but on a GH2 the closest shutter speed to 1/48th is 1/50th. If that's not what you're asking about, apologies... but can you please provide an example of the reference where you're seeing percentages? |

Re: GH3 frame rates
In the GH3 menu, in video, there is a frame rate tab.
In the frame rate tab; the selections available are OFF, 40%, 48%, 80%, 160%, 200%, 300%. These are variable frame rates. I think they are percentages of 24 FPS, not 30. But I'm not sure. 40% of 24 FPS would be 9.6 FPS. |

Re: GH3 frame rates
Just did some quick tests.
The 80% is just barely slo-mo the 40% is quite a nice slo-mo 300% is keystone cops territory. So from my past experiences, the 80% looks like shooting 30fps and projecting 24 fps. Slight effect. the 40% looks like shooting 48fps for projection at 24 fps. Would love to know what these percentages actually translate into. |

Re: GH3 frame rates
Page 185 of the GH3guideUSA.pdf says that regardless of other settings this mode sets 1080/24p at 24 Mbps with no sound.

That is NOT what is happening. See my observations above or try it yourself. |

Re: GH3 frame rates
No, I'm saying that the percentage change is in relation to 24 fps.
