2 new lenses

I stopped (Actually my wife did) by an antique shop today when I was picking up corn for the Bears. I went in and spotted a nice looking Nikon F3 with a 55mm Nikkor f2.8 lens and a 100-30mm F4 Tameron.

I bought the whole thing for 69.00.

I need to look at the 55mm. The aperture doesn't open or close even though the ring clicks positively. I tried it out and it;s sharp.

The Tameron is perfect and takes super video. Not low light but darn nice in good conditions.

Re: 2 new lenses

I looked at the 55mm (which it turns out is supposed to be one of the sharpest Macros made at the time) and it looks like it has oil on the blades. That's a common problem and I'll fix it next week. It's a pretty simple procedure. While I have it apart I'll give the entire thing a good cleaning.

Should be a nice addition to the lens collection for the GH2.

Congratulations on your purchase, Don. From a fun point of view, you can't beat the GH1 and GH2. The possibilities are almost endless.

Re: 2 new lenses

That 55/2.8 is a peach of a macro lens. Only thing I've tried in its range that bests it is the Leica Elmarit-R 60, but then that's, oh, several times 100% more expensive.

Re: 2 new lenses

I took it with me yesterday on an Osprey photo hunt Kevin. Not much good for Osprey's, but I wanted to test the repair in the real world.

I was extremely pleased with it,

That footage is fabulous, Don. The detail, even in SD mode, is remarkable, the color is excellent. Nice lens.

Thanks Jeff. You should see it without the Vimeo Crunch.
