I did the same thing Don. I got the orange ones with the flip up lever.
They have good holding power. The issue I ran into with those is they would release without warning. Always use more than 1 on a rig and ideally at least 3. Check them often to make sure they aren't loosening up on ya.

I have developed a habit of tethering cameras on all my jury rigged mounts...and it's paid off many times! |

Well after the test run I figured out I like suction cups with camera on the windshield. We experimented with foam under tripod and that worked fairly well but I like the versatility of the suction cups. A smooth road made a big difference too. I'm a new fan of the suction cups. We tried on the side of the vehicle for moving footage and it was nice. Once we get the real footage shot I will post some clips. Smooth footage to me may not be that smooth to others buy I'll try to show what process produced what footage.
