Pentax Lens Adapter Compatibility
Hello,
I have the following 2 lenses for my Pentax K10d. (This is a 3 year old 10mp DLSR.) - Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC SLD ELD 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC Macro - Standard Zoom Lenses - SigmaPhoto.com Pentax 10-17mm Fisheye f/3.5-4.5 - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/418135-USA/Pentax_21580_SMCP_DA_10_17mm_f_3_5_4_5_ED.html I cannot figure out what lens mount adapter I would need to mount these lenses on my GH2. One website calls them a "DA" mount, another calls them a "Kaf" mount, another calls them a "J" mount. I am looking at the $25 adapter mounts on eBay - which come in a variety of mounts. Does any other Pentaxians out there know what mount adapter would work? Thanks, Angelo

Re: Pentax Lens Adapter Compatibility
None of the Pentax K-mount adapters that I've seen offer electronic control, so the only part you need to care about, is that it's a K-mount adapter for M43.

Re: Pentax Lens Adapter Compatibility
Thanks Kin,
I actually asked this same question to an eBay vendor and got this response: "It is for Pentax DA, KAF lens, but it also fits Pentax A, K, M, F" That seems to pretty much cover them all, so I guess they all have similar mounts. I bought the adapter for $25, so it wasn't a major purchase like some of the adapters out there. I'll post some results, really looking forward to trying out my Pentax Fisheye and fast zoom (18-50 2.8). Thanks, Angelo

Re: Pentax Lens Adapter Compatibility
A "FA" lens is Pentax speak for a lens having a full frame (36mm x 24mm) image circle.
A "DA" lens is Pentax speak for a lens having a APS-C image circle. A "J" lens is Pentax speak for some older cheap lenses that didn't have an aperture ring. An "M" lens means the lens supports only Manual operation. An "A" lens means the lens supports Aperture being controlled from the camera. You need these to support automated exposure modes / aperture priority modes on the camera. There are several varieties of Pentax K-mount (K, KA, KAF2, KAF3). As far as I know, Pentax has taken care to make sure they are backward compatible so a 30 year old lens will work on a brand new Pentax camera. And a brand new lens will work on a 30 year old body. There are of course features that require both the lens & body to support that feature. For furthur information I would suggest reading here: Pentax K mount - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |
