Gh1 or Gh2?
I am wanting to purchase one of these two cameras. My question is, should I save my money and get the gh2 or isn't there much difference between the two? I am new to dslr's but I wanna learn. So I want some advice on what you think I should do.

Re: Gh1 or Gh2?
There are many, many posts on this forum - take a few hours and read before buying a GH2

Re: Gh1 or Gh2?
Chris is right, of course.
GH2 is a better camera, hands down. I have both. Your question is "What should I do?" The quick answer is to do as Chris says, buy the GH2. I strongly agree with Chris on this point. On the other hand, I still use the GH1, and it shoots better images than my brand new Canon XA10. When it shoots alongside an FX1 or Z1 or XHA1, the GH1 puts them to shame. You CAN get a lot of amazing footage from a GH1, using the right lenses. You can buy a GH1 for $300 used and a 20mm F/1.7 for around $300, and for $600 you'd have a great little setup, but you are missing out on touch screen, the better ISO peroformance, and "real" 24p. If you bought the GH1, you'd be fine probably, but the GH2 is just so much better. My GH1 is for sale, by the way, and if you're interested let me know.

Re: Gh1 or Gh2?
GH2 is better in low light, has audio meters on-screen (and has a few adjustments), and as Jeff points out, 24p out of the box. It also does true interlaced (which is attractive for me for the work I do).
However, my GH2 has a weird color shifting in lowish light which my GH1 didn't do. I find it a pain! Good luck with your decision. |

Re: Gh1 or Gh2?
Tyson, your post spurred me to take action on getting my GH1 sold. I have put together a nice package that includes everything a new person would need. If interested see it here: http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/private-...ale-650-a.html

Re: Gh1 or Gh2?
Thanks for the input guys! Sorry Jeff but I think I will just hold off on the GH1 and wait for the GH2! :) I hate when you have to wait for stuff! :)

Re: Gh1 or Gh2?
I have a black one and a silver one, I like the silver one much better. The silver lenses look very nice on it.

Re: Gh1 or Gh2?
I ordered my GH2 black body from Panasonic Direct EPP on Dec 1 2010 for $630 and received it about a week or so later because they used a photo with lens and some thought it was included. I purchased my black GH1 with 14-42 kit for $375 in January. They were both great buys but the GH2 is worth the extra money for having the best quality video of any DSLR type camera and is fantastic in low light with the Voigtländer Nokton 25mm f/0.95.
