Lens hood for 12mm F/2.0?

I found a lens hood for the 12mm lens. Funny thing is it costs $100 and is shipping from Japan.

Anyone know where these things can be found?

Not the prettiest things in the world, but they work and you can screw filters in on either side and/or use the stock lens cap.

Thanks Kevin, appreciate the link, most kind. I want the oem hood primarily for looks, it just looks great!

What do you do about ND filters and lens hoods together Jeff?

I've been thinking about that. Seems like if you use one over sized ND filter and use step down rings to fit all your lenses then the lens hood won't fit. If you get a lens hood to fit the oversize ND filter and then take the filter off the lens hood no longer fits..... or does the step down ring work on the hood too? Maybe use an oversize protective filter when not using the ND?? That's just a lot of screwing when going from indoors to outdoors when in a rush.

Is there a solution?

Nothing can be done Tim, but to work around it. Sometimes with some lenses you can't use an ND and hood, unfortunately.

Jeff I would hang on until you can put thast hood in your hands, before committing to the $100 price tag.

Back in the day of my GS500s the legacy Konica Lens hood was the "cool" one to slap on them. I got one and really liked it and the next from Ebay was much less deep and didn't have the "cool" going on for it as much. I was cleaning out stuff this weekend and came across them. I see the "cool" one is for a 35mm and the "not so cool" is for a 24mm. Knowing what I know now, the difference is the field of view each needs dictated the depth differences between them. Just a head's up for ya......

Hey Chip.

The hood in question, the LH-48 is made for the lens, so it should be good. I wasn't at all clear in my original post, sorry. It's metal just like the lens, perfect match, awesome. It just doesn't seem to be available anywhere but Asia right now. And I have no intention of paying $100 for it either! I was thinking about it, but it's pretty much a waste of money to overpay like that.

OK, I just did another search and the hood is now available on Olympus sites for the U.K., Germany, Netherlands, for $118 U.S. I guess $100 is actually a "bargain". Damn, it is irritating that Olympus is gouging us for a lens hood. Not nice.
