Howie Long's GH2 debut
Contacted by a new client, "just getting a few short statements for some web videos, shooting at the talent's house." OK, nifty, brought along a couple lights, my GH2, and plumbed a G1 Sennheiser wireless pack directly into it. I've done weekly church announcements with this setup for months, confidently. Simple one-arm interview kit.
I didn't know for certain who the talent was until I showed up at the mansion... Anyway... pretty simple, but happy with the results. Behind the Mic presented by Allstate - SI.com |

Re: Howie Long's GH2 debut
Congrats on the gig. Did you use available lighting? The brown wall to his right had some serious artifacting going on...high ISO, compression? What lens did you use?

Re: Howie Long's GH2 debut
Shot with a leica Summicron-R 2/50 at 2.8, ISO 200, FSH. Lit with a RIFA-55 key, Pro-Light backlight, and a household "warm" fluoro on the back wall. In and out in about an hour.
The background is all from compression... Its been through at least three different sounds of AVCHD encoding (in cam, then shrunk and resized for ftp, then their edit and encode). How's a simple gradient to cope? |

Re: Howie Long's GH2 debut
I'm anxious to see your work Kevin, but I'm getting no video, just blank player window. I don't know if it's my browser or what, but I've refreshed the page repeatedly. Any suggestions?

Re: Howie Long's GH2 debut
Thanks for chiming in Mark, I feel better, I thought I had some issue with my ISP, I had no idea what was going on.

Re: Howie Long's GH2 debut
Outstanding Kevin, great lighting, nice example of 3 point lighting. Howie looked great. Yes the wall was clearly compression artifacting, nothing to be done, as you already know. Leica is nice lens, and looks great.
Audio was perfect also. Great job.
