Any updates on the GH1?

Has anyone heard if Panasonic is going to do any firmware updates to "fix" what some have complained about (e.g. weak codec)? I think another "issue" was the inability to use a half-press of the shutter release to focus in video mode - iirc it's either continuous focus or manual?

I'm guessing for what I'd want the camera for I'd not run into any problems, but I do see where I'd use that focus method.

Yesterday Panasonic has updated the firmware on many of their lenses to focus better.

GH1 update

I don't think you can upgrade the firmware to fix that weak codec. I think the upgrade needed will be on the GH2 or whatever they call the GH1 replacement. I think the problem is the weak Venus engine to handle 1080 24p.

They may not be able to fix the codec but I think just giving us 1080 24p from the very beginning without needing to remove the pull down would be a huge plus.

Another thing that would really be nice is to have at least composite output. It's not the best form of output but it's definitely better than no output.

A lot of people didn't think you'd be able to have adequate manual controls in the 5D and they were proven wrong. And now your about to see 24p in the future.

Different type or camera, different company yes but that should still prove that it can be possible to have a firmware update that can do drastic changes.

agreed...$1499 USD is great, but add Neoscene, it's really a $1599 cam...i'm not made of money. though i have to admit, i didn't do enough research about pulldown removal before i bought. ah well.
