Lumix GH1 + Canon HG20 vs. AG-HMC150
I'm thinking about upgrading the camera instead of going on vacation this year. I'm starting to hit the barriers of "semi-pro" and I think my equipment is holding me back.
I mostly film documentaries, but I also film some stage performances. I'd get into narrative, but all the guys I know doing narrative, quite frankly, have better cameras. I already own a Canon HG20 with a Juicedlink XLR adapter. Here's what I'm missing from the HG20, and why I'm thinking of upgrading: 1) Zebra Stripes. 2) Shallow DoF 3) Low Light Performance. Here's why I'm thinking about going with the Lumix GH1: + Can get into still photography, see if I like that. + Shallow DOF + Low Light Performance - No Audio Control (though I could hook up the Juicedlink to my Zoom H2 and sync in post) - No 1080p30 (though at 1080p24 native, it's probably not a big deal; as I mostly record 1080p30 on the HG20 now to avoid the laborious pulldown phase) And here's why I'm thinking of going with the AG-HMC150 + Low Light Performance + "looks professional" + On-cam audio control - Expensive as hell - DoF should be similar to HG20. I don't know - what do you guys think?
