I come from a Sony Ex3 background and all my cameras have had expand focus, and it was something used all the time,let's live in hope, still working on profiles, testing a few more this weekend.

I was hoping that the DVX200 had touch focus but not according to the manual and this lack of focus assist in record is a real disappointment. Will wait and see what Sony's response it in the future I suppose.

The DVX200 has touch focus. It is documented on page 82 of the manual.
From the Menu you have to assign a user button to "AREA" function, and press EXIT. You will see a rectangle in the display, which you can place to the location of your choice. You just have to touch the panel at the subject which you want to focus. Joachim |
