Re: Panasonic DVX200 4K is a camera to buy?

I come from a Sony Ex3 background and all my cameras have had expand focus, and it was something used all the time, let's live in hope, still working on profiles, testing a few more this weekend.

I was hoping that the DVX200 had touch focus but not according to the manual and this lack of focus assist in record is a real disappointment. Will wait and see what Sony's response it in the future I suppose.

The DVX200 has touch focus. It is documented on page 82 of the manual.
From the Menu you have to assign a user button to "AREA" function, and press EXIT. You will see a rectangle in the display, which you can place to the location of your choice. You just have to touch the panel at the subject which you want to focus.

Yes but No Expand Focus, I have just finished a 10hr Day, and I say that this this a real pain, not having it, filming events, and have to pick up people in the crowd then back to the panel, then back to the speaker is pain, in the ass, and I really can't beleave that it only works in Privew mode. I hope Panasonic do an update. The Peaking is a joke at full zoom it's not working for me.
On a good not the Picture Quality is Fantastic, they just need a firmware update, maybe the forum can create a " Dvx200 Fireware Updates a wish list" like JVC did a few years back . .? better still Ill start one.
