A good mic

Now that the 100's been out awhile, which external mic have you found to be the best match with this camera? Is anyone using the AG-DVX100 xlr microphone? Is there something better without spending a fortune?

I would still say that the tried and true Sennheiser ME-66 would be one of the best bets considering the cost and the quality sound it produces.

What about the cheaper Azden SGM-2X and the Audion Technica AT835b? Any opinions of those two?

I take it that the Panasonic mic isn't very good?

There is no doubt that the Sennheiser ME-66 is a great mike. I've rented one several times and never been disappointed with the results. However, when time came to buy, I actually bought the Audio Technica AT835b. I've had it for a couple years and have used it extensively on my BetaCam rig. It works just fine with my DVX100. All in all, very good value and an excellent performer for the price.

Thanks for all the input. I was thinking about the Azden because it seems to wear a lot of hats as far as audio gathering is concerned, but I will look and listen to the others now and not even consider the Panasonic mic I suppose. The guy at the shop said it wasn't bad, but I know that the PD150 mic has some problems, so I was wary of his assertion. Seems I was justified.

But can the Azden work with the AGDVX100's phantom power? How about the others?
