AG DVC32 Fire Wire Port Repaired!
Hi everybody,
Not new to this excellent site, but my first post. My camera is with Panasonic's service centre in Singapore for over a month now to repair a dead Fire Wire port. This so-called hot swappable device died on me doing exactly that (Hot swapping it). It does say so in the manual to turn computer and camera off and off course it was to late when I read that. Question: have any of you who had there camera's repaired and after the repair still the same that you have to switch the camera and the computer off before (dis)connecting the DV cable? Which seams to be an anomaly only for certain Pana camera's. Regards........Andre |

Hi Andre,
Since the manual says to turn off both computer and camera, you'll want to continue to follow that advice after the repair. The repair has fixed the damage, but it has not changed the way the connection should be made. In other words, don't hot-swap. Hope this helps, |

Thanks Chris,
That seems sound advice which I will definitely follow. I just thought that with the repair (New board!) they might have fixed the original problem. Regards........Andre |

My firewire died a couple of weeks back as well. I bought the 4 year warranty with my camera purchase, so I guess I can now test how well this warranty stuff works???
