Keep my DVX as a secondary?
Hello,
So in the last year I have purchased a DVX-100 and a HVX-200 in hopes to pursue my own corporate video business. Things at work kept coming up which delayed me from doing this. But now I finally have time to do this. I bought the DVX-100 as a secondary Cam for the HVX-200 (As I have a feeling that most of my productions for the first year or two will likely be in SD anyway). However after shooting a couple wedding I have found it bit difficult to match the two cams together. I will admit though - both times I used them I tried to line them up in little bit of time. Should I keep the DVX-100 as a secondary and practice lining them up - or is it near impossible and I should just get rid of it? Has anyone here ever had success with the DVX and HVX together? Thanks, Dale W |

The DVX100 is a pretty old camera now. It's a 4:3 with lossy 16:9 modes (both of them) which is why Panasonic marketed their anamorphic for it. You won't be shooting weddings in 4:3, will you? So I'm not surprised you're having trouble matching (lining them up?) the footage with the HVX200. If I were you I'd sell the DVX while people still want 4:3 for the web.

Thank you for your response Tom.
Yes it was mostly matching the colours I felt was difficult. But it being an older camera - I definitly feel it would be smart to sell it now rather than later (especially sense I am not getting much use out of it) If I ever was to need a second Cam - is there something people are using with the HVX200? I mean ideally I would want another HVX200 if I can afford it. But would the HMC150 or AGHPX170 work well? I would guess the AGHPX170 should match up very well? |
