DVX vs. XL2
I'm going to buy one of these Cameras. With one of these cameras, I am planning on shooting my own dramatic shorts...and hope to shoot a feature. I was wondering if DVX users feel that it is equal/superior to the xl2 in any way.
Obviously the huge weight difference, is a key advantage. I believe that you can shoot 16:9 on the DVX... is that true? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

You can not shoot native 16/9 with the DVX unless you buy an adaptor, and if you buy that, it's better to just buy an XL2, I think.
There have been many many many discussions covering this subject so I think it's best if you try a search, you'll find enough information here. Short: The XL2 is the better cam, but with the bigger price tag also. It's more difficult to get a filmic image out of the box (say some people) but quality is better and you can get the filmic image in post also. (I believe it's always better to work with your images in post). But you have to think to yourself: do I really need 16/9? Do I really need interchangible lens system? And what is my budget? If you got that cleared up, you can decide. But again: do a search, and you'll find very much more information that that short thing I just told you. Good luck! EDIT: These are some discussions I looked up for you that could be informative: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthrea...hlight=dvx+xl2 http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthrea...hlight=dvx+xl2 http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthrea...hlight=dvx+xl2 http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthrea...hlight=dvx+xl2 http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthrea...hlight=dvx+xl2 |
