send timecode from DVX-100
How do you send timecode from DVX-100-while recording.
Need to send timecode to a deck for audio sync can you send it our the audio rca output? on a related question, can the DVX control Pro Tools? "EEE 1394 terminal for non-linear production with Synchro Lock Function Equipped with an IEEE 1394-compliant 4-pin DV terminal that makes it easy to upload data to a PC and dub onto a DV recorder. This terminal also features a new synchro lock function that allows the AG-DVX100 to remotely start and stop an external DV device connected to it via a DV cable, such as the AG-DV1DC portable mini-DV recorder." |

Never used protools so I can't answer that. What the DVX can do is send firewire deck transport protocol across the cable, so if you have an external camera or deck hooked up to the firewire port, the DVX can tell it to start recording, pause, rewind, fast forward, etc.
If ProTools recognizes firewire transport protocol, then yes it should work. The only way to get timecode out of the DVX is through the firewire port. Timecode on DV isn't recorded on the audio tracks, it's imbedded in the sub-code data track. |
