Using the RCA jacks as AUDIO IN
I can't figure this out. . .on the front right side of the camcorder are three RCA in/outs. Two of them are audio in/outs, and yet, flipping switches and changing menu options, I was unable to get a microphone/mixer combo to record sound into the camera when plugged into these RCA inputs/outputs. What menu settings or switches do you have to have set in order for the RCA jacks to work as an audio in?

I belive they work only in VCR mode. Check the manual to be sure. I don't think you can use them in camera mode.

Yeah, I looked at the manual, and it left me confused.

When in camera mode, I've used the RCA jacks to send audio to a mixer and then another camera... while using the XLR inputs running two mics.
In VCR mode, I've used the inputs to put audio into the camera when recording, or to send audio out of the camera, when playing back... So that only leaves us with one question to be answered, yours. Personally I'd be REALLY surprised if you could use the RCA jacks for audio input while in camera mode. That would be a feature which would get a lot of acclaim, 'cause then the DVX would include a quasi-4 channel mixer. If you could run 4 mic inputs into one camera it would be big news. |
