Did the first DVX100's have problems?
Did the first shipment of DVX100's have any kinds of problems? I'm planning on buying a DVX100A, but I'd need to get it as soon as it hits the market, so I'm just wondering if I should expect any surprises.

I bought.....
the first DVX100 and the battery mount on the back was reformed about 3 months into the life of the cam. Panasonic just replaced the cam with a new version.

There were only two things that I can think of that were changed. First, the earliest DVX's reportedly used to set a "widescreen" flag in the data stream when you shot footage in "letterbox" mode, which was incorrect.
Second, on the latest DVX's, the added a ridge under the audio-channel volume knobs to help prevent accidental bumping of the knobs. |

I'll just assume Panasonic wouldn't be willing to take your older model in and trade out a newer one.
I'll hope, however, that because the DVX100A is just an upgrade to the DVX100, that they'll be little to no problems with the new models... |
