Keeping the camera on?
Just getting used to my new DVX100 and wondering how to keep it on, ie bypass the automatic time out shut down when in REC/pause mode. I plan to feed another deck and or use it in a live switching situation. I don't feature putting a tape in it and Record - with a 1 hr limit.

Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I believe that as long as there is no tape in the camera, it will stay powered up until you turn it off. The reason it goes into standby after 5 minutes is to protect the heads when a tape is in the transport.

There's a menu setting that you can use that will disable the power-off. With the right setting, you can keep the camera on even if there's a tape in it.

Look for "tape protect" function in the set up menu - chose "standby". This disengages the heads but keeps the camera on.
