XL1se vs. DVX100 rez comparison
Since I recently got a PAL XL1se, i did some resolution chart tests together with the DVX100(NTSC). I have posted them at
http://expert.cc.purdue.edu/~pertierr I took care to line it up as best as i could with the actual image size that is recorded. The XL1se image is in 50i mode, so frame mode (25p more or less)will have less resolution(will post that chart soon). The DVX100 image was in the exact same conditions, except one of them I did it unzoomed, and the other with near 10x zoom. The zoomed version seems to have a bit less sharpness, maybe because of some reduced optical resolution? Let me know if anyone is interested in seeing any particular tests. Juan |

DV Mag. published 460 playback lines for the XL1. Haven't found out about the DVX100 yet. I assume it's about 500 lines, just a guess though.

Afaik, on playback, it is limited to the DV format so 480 lines for the DVX100 and 576 for the PAL XL1se...however, that's not the same as to what the camera can resolve. The DVX100 can definitely resolve more lines than the XL1se even though the XL1se has more vertical resolution on playback since it is PAL.
From the DVX chart it looks like it can resolve 500 lines at the very least. |
