Really quick DVX firewire alternative question!

My friend just got a dvx but the firewire is busted and apart from spending 800$ on a repair, I was thinking he should just get a cheap minidv camcorder.

I was just wondering, can any regular minidv cam handle the dvx's various frame rates? cause the 24p has pulldown into regular 29.95, right?
So a camera like this would do the job, right?
Future Shop: Cameras & Camcorders: Camcorders: Samsung MiniDV Camcorder (SC-D382)

If not that camera, which one should he be looking at?

Thanks!
