Paul,
If you want a PAL version of the DVX100, you could always buy the camera in Mainland China. It is called DVC180, it is identical to the DVX100 and all the menus are in English. I bought mine in Beijing for less than Rmb 25,000. I have also seen the camera for sale at a photographic shop in Mongkok. If you a looking around Mongkok you will also find the JVC HD mini camera for sale it looks nice but couldn't persuade the shop sales man to let me get my hands on it. Panasonic MQ tapes are also available at HK$25 which is a very good deal |

Thanks guys. I actually want to buy the NTSC version as I will be moving to Canada next year and don't want to convert my output to NTSC with procoder. Last time when I visit Canada, I found that even the DVD player there could play PAL DVD, however their TV couldn't take PAL signal! So, I would be safer to get a NTSC DVX100.
Now, I am puzzled by the PD150 successor rumours. PD150 almost disappear in HK shops. I should talk to the shopkeepers to find out whether they are ordering new models. Yes, Bob, tapes are very cheap in HK. I was surprise to see the US price on the Web. |
