Downloading camera

I have both a 100b and dvc30, was wondering if I can purchase a cheap minidv camcorder for downloading footage instead of using my nice cameras for downloading. Whats your thoughts on this?
thanks guys

Andy,

You can do this but not all cheap cams may work for you. I had a problem with a $350 cam (can't remember the brand /model) not always pre-rolling to the exact time/location as indicated on my NLE. As a result I went to using a JVC deck for this purpose.

Thanks for the reply. How much did the jvc deck cost you?

I take it you are refering to capturing with downloading? I use a "cheap" Sony dcr hc35 which I use to rewind the tapes, transfer my footage to pc and write edited footage back to tape. I use it to preview my footage from the timeline on a lcd tv and heck, it even can film. :D I never regret buying it, even if I don't use it to film, it surely is way much cheaper then those overpriced decks and actually is doing more or less the same.
