GS250 - Any AGC control?
Is there any way to turn off the Automatic Gain Control (AGC) on the Pana GS-250? I record music with an external mic through an XLR-Pro (to attenuate the hot mic). But (presumable) because of the camera AGC I'm not getting any dynamic range. The dynamics are all flattened out in playback. Is there anyway around this problem? Thanks...

for the 250, i honestly dont know, but i do know the higher end MX300/500 and GS500 do. If (in teh menu) there is an "advanced" control, that function to turn it off would be found in there. If its not there then i guess u wouldnt be able to

No, you cannot turn off AGC on the GS250. The AGC circuits appear to work like limiters on the Panasonic cams. You should not get boost to the lower loudness passages. So, if you adjust the XLR-PRO down to keep from hitting the AGC, you should have a good dynamic range.
