Japanese Panasonic GS-100 image problem
Hi everyone.
I have had one of the Japanese GS-100 cams for about two years and it has been a good camera.. but in the past two weeks it has developed a problem. Intermittently, the image will break up into R,G, B and smear vertically up the screen. it goes away, then it will come back ... it happened today two times in about five minutes. I am very concerned. Nothing has happened to the camera (falls, spills, etc) . Anyone ever seen this? Any thoughts about where to take it/send it for repair? Thanks Kristin |

Kristin,
Panasonic has issued a recall for certain PV-DV953 and GS200 camcorders in the US and Canada for failure of the CCD prism block. The symptoms are like you describe. They also issued a recall in Japan, and the GS100 was included. See this page from Panasonic.jp For more information on the US and Canada, see this. Since you aren't in Japan, I'm not sure how you would get your camcorder repaired. |

thank you Guy!
This is very helpful (yet distressing) news. I guess i have learned a lesson about buying a camera from overseas.
