NV-GS25 vs NVGS35

I'm selecting a camera for a friend who wants to pay roughly $600AUD.
There's a baby on the way so it's just for home video happy snaps type stuff - nothing serious.

Based on having used a NV-GS120 and being impressed I've selected either the NVGS25 or NV-GS35.

In comparison, I can't see much difference apart from the zoom

For home video stuff, is it worth the extra money for the 35? It seems that the picture quality would be the same.

If anyone has anyone experience with either of these cameras, could you please let me know if they are a decent camera?

Thanks :)
Matt

looking at the specs, does anyone know if the 35 is worth the extra money over the 25 for just simple home video stuff?

i just bought a gs25, think besides the difference in zoom, the gs35 has a video light

according to camcorderinfo.com, it also seems to come with a higher capacity battery

one thing to note if u are keen to use the front mic and AV port for headphones, both don't work as what i expected

sent it in to the service centre, to find that it seems only a mic with 4 sections can be used [some panasonic models like the GS400 come with that mic]

similarly, the AV/remote port, which i thought is also a headphone port, only works on the left channel. the right channel buzzes. think it needs a 4 section plug too.
