WWVMH3 S, zoom mic

Has anyone tried this Pana mic on their GS model? How is it? I'm curious if it will work on the MX300/0.

The VMH3 will not work on the MX5K so I doubt if it's gonna work on the MX3K. Other than the hotshoe compatibility and exterior color, the frequency response and various modes of the VMH3 appear identical with that of VMS1, which works with the MX3K using the mini E system adapter cable. There was a guest of this forum who asked me to buy tons of Pana accessories including the VMS1 for his MX300 (thanks to your recommendation Frank). He lives in Norway and hopefully, he can chime in about the performance of the VMS1.

Thanks, Allan. The VMS1, I can't recall that model number off hand---I don't have my notes in front of me. This isn't the original stereo zoom mic for the MX3, or is it?

What sparked an interest with the WWVMH3 is its small size, and that they're available locally through special order. I don't know it's price. I just found out about it after picking up a Pana catalog yesterday when I was buying some film. Oops. ;)

Yes Frank, the VMS1 is the original zoom mic for the MX3. Because it can't be used with the GS series cams due to the lack of mini E system port on the cam, Pana has deleted it from their catalogue. It is still available and price has gone down a little bit compared to the VMH3. The VMH3 first came out when the GS70 was introduced.

Oh, it's that stereo zoom mic for the MX3. I'll pass. It's too pricey for what it is, in my opinion. Not that it's a bad mic but Pana technical didn't exactly rave about it either. Right now I own a cardioid with a medium pattern, but I thought a cheap stereo zoom would come in handy. I don't want to spend more than $100 US---though I never did find out the price for the WWVMH3---and I wanted one that plugs in, not via the hot-shoe.
