widescreen cam confusion
I keep reading posts complaining about nothing in the way of widescreen/HD cams announced at NAB, the affordable hand-held kind, and I keep thinking about the GS100 and PDX10's widescreen which are here now. Then there's the probability that the GS400 will have good widescreen too, and JVC's MPEG2 HD cams have been on the market for around a year. What do people want? All they have to do is open their eyes and buy what Pokey needs and wants...yes, even the MX5, and the PV-DV953 should do nicely for shooting widescreen. Drum roll: that's why I'd rather have a MX5000 today, than spend a year's salary on something that'll be obsolete tomorrow. Info here:

What camcorder is obsolete tomorrow? I don't have a wide tv but it works good.

I hear ya. I'm quite happy with my 20" Emerson TV, with the built-in VCR. Got it free too, when my wife bought the bedroom furniture. Pokey was jealous.
Obsolete cams? Certainly not the PV-DV953. It's got maximum DV resolution playback, widescreen, and all the bells and whistles you'll ever need in this day and age, and tomorrow too. |
