Could this be?
Could it be that the GS400 is the silver version of the GS100 but in a beefier, MX5-like casing? Could be.

If I remember someone posted info that he had called and asked in Japan, and they have said that something "new" is coming out, so it will probably be the GS400, and since they already have GS100, they can't be the same... =/ ....
rrright? they won't have the same cam, but with just different package in the same market...? http://www.alienminds.ca/nVvsGS.jpg |

am i missing something?
so, if you think the GS400 is the possible replacement to the GS100, how is that so if the GS400 is already in existence? I heard that the new model is yet to be announced. So what i am missing? is the GS400 the successor to the GS100?
please bring me up to speed. Thank you. -John |

John>>> my understanding is that the GS100 is a replacement for PV953 or what ever the model number is. but the GS400 is a replacement for the NV-MX500 a PAL version of the GS100, the GS100 i believe is an updated model of the MX500, and it's NTSC equivelent, but the GS400 is a total replacement model. from my understanding of it all anyway. i hope that helps a little or if not i hope it doesn't confuse you too much.

zooommm - zooooommm
John, GS400 is NOT available yet =/ and it will be July (4th) so... it's possible.
as a matter of fact it's darn hard to muster any info for GS400, and what we have is a compilation of specs from many countries and dealers =/ but the cam is listed only as a model and few specs on Panasonic-UK, in Pana-BE catalog, and Pana -es (some fake specs there).. so far even there it's said they expect the cam to be available this summer. |

John,
You could be very right. It is entirely possible the GS400 is going to be ONLY PAL. Actually, bringing out similar but feature different camcorders is a Panasonic practice. If this new one (GS400 or whatever they call it) remains true, then the PAL version will be better than the NTSC North American version. Although some teaser specs are being released in Europe, there is dead silence in NA and I mean DEAD. No, you can't reply individually to a post on this board. Other boards allow private messaging, but it is disabled here. |

NV / PV
as far as I know there are two main verions of GS400
NV-GS400 (Pal) and PV-GS400 (NTSC) and they are both scheduled for release at the same time. Pana-US will probably carry PV-GS400 too... in case you wonder... most info for the posted specs were put togather from information about NV-GS400. oh.. yes.. and the MSRP of the PV-GS400 is 1499$ =) |
