And this is the funniest one yet!
Someone posted somewhere that his MX500's Leica lens was not German made. So he e-mailed and e-mailed and phoned Leica from the UK and asked them why his Leica lens wasn't German made. Finally Leica replied with, "For indepth details, please contact the company who manufactured your video camera. They will be glad to help." He did. Then he posted that Pana claimed it was a Leica lens. Why do some people worry about this kind of stuff instead of going about and happily shooting? (I don't.) But I do make sure I DON'T buy the Chinese made Nikon lenses for my SLR. Kidding. Oh, and my reply to him was: "perhaps you should buy a Sony with a Zeiss lens, because they're nice. But just make sure you contact Zeiss Germany that they are made in Germany and not Japan."
He hasn't replied back yet. ---------------------------------------- Smell the roses! |

Frank,
That's funny and ridiculous at the same time. Maybe he suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). ;-) |

Yes, it's so ridiculous that it's funny. And this wasn't the first time I read similar nonsense about why a Leica (or Zeiss) isn't a real Leica (or Zeiss), because they're not made in Germany. Go back about 4 years in dv.com's camera forum. :-))
