Just bought my GS100k
from pricejapan - my first "all japanese" purchase...now I need a manual! LOL! I have the "english menu" translations, what manual is the closest to the gs100? the gs70?
Where is the gs70 manual online? Can't wait to play with my new 16x9 30p toy. thanks to EVERYONE for their input. Michael |

Welcome to the Cult of the GS100! Now I really feel left out! :(
I've read the GS70 manual is close. |

Yes congrats Michael on IMO a fine purchase
was wondering if anyone who has got the cam from pricejapan could tell me how the cam came exactly in the box? by this i mean was it wraped in a plastic bag? did it have a thin plastic sheet over the lcd screen? was the jap sticker on the outside as i have seen on supervid pics? did the bat have any charge? was the time or date set? the reason i ask ? because i wonder do they check for dead pixels before they ship mine came in a plastic bag not sealed but looking new bat was charged no sticker on outside cam body |

No one is going to take the time to remove the cheesy stickers except the owner of the cam. Sounds like you got a return (aka open-box).
At least you know its not old.. Just about every cam I get has a half-to-full charge on the battery. |

Shawn, If I were to decide to purchase a GS100, I'd place my order with Tim or Allan. They will find one that's been untouched, check it over to see if everything is right, and even look after the warranty end if you have to send it back. My 2 cents.

Mine came with the cheesy sticker (still on the camcorder, actually, because I'm too lazy to fight with the possible consequences of removing it). The date/time were set, but to Japan time. Battery functioned for a little while. One other thing to look for re open-box is the battery for the remote. That and the CD containing the software are the only two items that came in wrapping that you had to cut or tear open in order to get at them. pricejapan claims its items are all brand new, factory sealed. They also have what is essentially a no-return policy. So an open-box item would raise some real credibility issues.
