dv852 dubs sound only??
Ok so I got a beachtek dxa6 to go with my DV852. I hooked it all up correctly and everything. I put the dxa6 to the mic input jack, then hooked mic up to the dxa6, and my headphones in the av jack. And I got no sound at all. I hear nothing at all. The stereo mic on the camera isn't recording at this point either which I expected. Why isn't my mic recording anything? Can the mic input jack be used only for dubbing? I've messed with the settings as best I could, but nothing really configures the inputs, except for when I go into the vcr mode.
VCR mode says something like Av input: in...or out/phones (I chose out) Audio Dubb input...av in...or mic (when choosing phones a.dubb input is locked into the mic input, I can't switch it. DV out: on or off (locked to on) Please help me get this to work if its possible. Thanks. |

Hmm, it should work, if you have everything turned on and hooked up right...
I guess i'll state the obvious questions and go ahead and ask what mic is it, and is it turned on/powered? Have you tried recording to tape instead of just trying to monitor through the headphones? Also, do you have the switches/adjustments on the beachtek set right? Such as do you have it set on mic and not line? |

as far as I know its set up right, I tried it set to both mic and line
The mic is an oktava mc012 I'm powering it with 48v of phantom power. I tried recording to tape and got no sound when I played it back. I've tinkered with many different inputs. I'm going to try to hook up the beachtek to my computers sound card to try and record to isolate the problem. I will contact beachtek if the unit is the problem, but I am just wondering if the dv852 is capable of recording through the mic jack and not just dubbing. Thanks for the replies. |
