Re: What should the upgrade to Sony NEX EA 50UH ?
Thanks Steve
There was a guy on the forum who posted some video that looked like it was shot thru a plastic bag ! He was in Singapore in mid Summer and he said it was amazing what the difference was when he actually ran a wet swab over the sensor! I know that Pete in the UK got to the stage where he was doing a sensor clean before every wedding he shot and said the difference was amazing too! I did a lens change for my stedicam outside a Church once and after I watched the footage I saw little specks of grass clippings on the sensor ....one needs to change lens in a place where there is no dust and I got used to changing lenses holding the camera vertically. I think the OP might get a shock after his sensor is cleaned however in humid areas a puff of air just doesn't cut it ..you do need a proper wet clean to get rid of the film on the sensor. Glad you are still enjoying your EA-50s!! |

Re: What should the upgrade to Sony NEX EA 50UH ?
Gentlemen
Yes, I agree about needing maintenance and cleaning. But I don't think I do it nearly as often as some guys. And never just because its routine before a shoot. I do a lot of lens changes too. A quick sky test will turn a tiny spec into a monster. I travel but I have not shot in a jungle.....yet. As you point out the EA50 sensor is very exposed without a lens on so I am quick and careful. I clean with the good, clean room made sensor swabs and Eclipse cleaning fluid. I don't like doing it, but you have to. Soumendra, You do not have to go to Sony service for a good cleaning. It should be part of your routine as we are all suggesting. A good camera shop will have the right stuff or you can order it online. Never use a lens cloth or any fluid that is not sensor specific. Re: What should the upgrade to Sony NEX EA 50UH ?
I just went ahead and purchased the Sony NX100.
The 1080p is superb. Just I have one doubt. I need the LOG mode or the flat picture profile. I can see PP1 to PP6, but none of them looks flat. So how do we achieve the flat ? Anything to download or shall I simply edit one PP and make it all 0 values ?

Re: What should the upgrade to Sony NEX EA 50UH ?
do a Google search on profiles for the FS100 or FS700 ...I've seen quite a few custom profiles that simulate LOG ....if that's what you want? I personally cannot see any point in flattening everything and then spending huge amounts of time in post making it look good when a decent profile setup can do the job for you.

You mean, something which can be downloaded and uploaded directly.
